For Union-area participants, sessions are available through the Gateway Family YMCA’s Wellness Center Branch at 1000 Galloping Hill Road. The program combines in-person exercise and wellness activities with opportunities for veterans and military families to connect with others who share a service background.
The 12-week initiative includes activities and discussions focused on balance, nutrition, tai chi, mental health, resistance-band exercises, stretching, circuit training and strength equipment. Participants also receive 24-hour access to YMCA360, the organization’s virtual wellness platform, along with an adult couple membership during the session. Those who complete the program receive an additional six-month individual adult YMCA membership.
The program is intended to reduce barriers to wellness resources while creating social connection for veterans and their families. The Gateway Family YMCA said its Veterans Wellness Initiative is open to veterans and a spouse or partner, with space limited for the fall cycle.
Interested participants may request information or register through tgfymca.org/contact-us or by emailing veterans@tgfymca.org. The YMCA also participates in the Military Family Membership program through the Department of Defense and Military OneSource, which provides free memberships to eligible military families.
